With the Piko BR 3193 from Stern & Hafferl in the DC sound version, model railroaders can experience the future-oriented dual-power technology in combination with realistic digital sound. The locomotive is based on the Vectron Dual Mode from Siemens - a flexible traction unit for electrified and non-electrified lines - and is equipped with PIKO TrainSound® onboard.
A PluX22 sound decoder is installed at the factory, which provides a full sound image - from diesel start to switching to overhead line operation to typical operating noises. Digitally switchable driver's cab, engine room and console lighting provide additional atmosphere. Other highlights: a metal scissors pantograph, free-standing handrails and a freely rotating fan wheel on the roof.
The Vectron Dual Mode has been in service since 2019 - in Germany as BR 248, in a light version as BR 249. As BR 3193, the vehicle is operated by Stern & Hafferl, a renowned Austrian private railway company. The locomotive combines modern technology with ecological efficiency - a real role model for the model world.
The model is designed for DC systems with a minimum radius of 358 mm. It is controlled digitally via the NEM 658 PluX22 interface. With an NEM shaft and close coupler link, the model is perfectly suited for modern Era VI freight or regional trains.
For technology fans, sound enthusiasts and all model railroaders who want to realistically represent modern hybrid traction. Also ideal as a digital eye-catcher in current layout operation.
