With the Piko 21776, the manufacturer is bringing a new print version of the legendary class 110.3 to the model railroad tracks. The locomotive appears in the typical oriental red color scheme with a contrasting "bib", as it was used by Deutsche Bahn AG in Era V. This striking livery was a familiar sight on German rails in the 1990s and symbolizes the transition from the classic Bundesbahn to the modern DB AG.
The BR 110.3 electric locomotive impresses in the model with its precise design, fine printing and numerous technical features. Thanks to the modern PluX22 interface, it is prepared for simple digitalization - ideal for model railway enthusiasts who value flexibility and faithfulness to the prototype.
The locomotive is designed for DC operation and has a PluX22 digital interface in accordance with NEM 658, making it easy to retrofit a digital decoder - for example the PIKO sound decoder #56571 (not included). Two traction tires ensure reliable traction, even on longer trains or inclines.
A light change in white/red depending on the direction of travel ensures authentic operational representations. The model is also equipped with digitally switchable cab lighting that can be activated in conjunction with a built-in PluX22 decoder. These features also make the model a real eye-catcher in night or shadow station scenarios.
With a length over buffers of 189 mm, the locomotive fits on all standard H0 track systems. It can easily cope with a minimum radius of 358 mm and is equipped with an NEM shaft and close coupler link - for reliable and prototypical coupling with other vehicles.
The oriental red paint scheme with bib was the trademark of many vehicles of the young DB AG in the 1990s. At this time, the class 110.3 was used in inter-regional, local and express train service and thus embodies the typical everyday use in the change of railroad companies. The model reflects this period in great detail and enables realistic scenarios of Era V.
The scope of delivery includes the Piko 21776 DC locomotive, operating instructions and accessories for individual design. The locomotive is analog ex works, but can be retrofitted digitally.
The model is aimed at collectors, Bundesbahn fans and model railroaders who want to combine the charm of Era V with modern technology. The authentic paintwork, the fine detailing and the digital retrofit option make this locomotive a real highlight in the fleet.
With the Piko 21776 BR 110.3 orient red, secure a model with a strong character for your H0 layout. Now available - bring the look of the 90s to your tracks!
