Piko 21779 H0 E-Lok BR 114, DB AG, Ep. VI Product Details

Description

PIKO 21779 - H0 Class 114 electric locomotive, DB AG, Era VI in traffic red

The BR 114 electric locomotive has been an integral part of Deutsche Bahn AG's regional transportation for years and stands for modern, reliable traction in local transportation. With the Piko 21779, the manufacturer is bringing out a current print version of this model in the typical traffic red color scheme of Era VI. The locomotive is visually and technically up to date and is ideal for realistic operating scenarios on H0 layouts in today's everyday railroad life.

This 2026 novelty is aimed at model railroaders who want to combine current DB AG vehicles with modern equipment and high prototype fidelity. Thanks to the integrated PluX22 digital interface, the model can be digitized quickly and easily - also with a retrofittable PIKO sound decoder if required.

Modern technology & digital preparation

The model is designed for DC operation and is analog ex works. However, it has a digital interface in accordance with NEM 658 (PluX22), which makes it easy to retrofit a decoder - e.g. the PIKO sound decoder #56558. The sturdy design with two traction tires ensures stable traction - even with longer train sets in push-pull operation.

Lighting & additional functions

The model is equipped with LED lighting that allows the lights to change in white/red depending on the direction of travel. There is also digitally switchable driver's cab lighting that can be activated with the appropriate decoder. This allows realistic night and shunting scenes to be impressively reproduced.

Driving behavior & compatibility

With a length over buffers of 191 mm, the locomotive is suitable for operation on all standard H0 track systems. It effortlessly handles radii from 358 mm and can be safely integrated into various train formations thanks to the NEM shaft with close coupler link. Whether in shuttle operation or as a regular regional train - the BR 114 impresses with its flexibility and faithfulness to the prototype.

Prototype from Era VI

In Era VI, the class 114 is mainly used in DB AG's regional services and characterizes the image of many commuter routes in Germany. The traffic red paint scheme with white contrasting stripes is the typical appearance of the modern DB era. The model realistically implements this design and is ideal for scenes of everyday railroad life today.

Scope of delivery

The scope of delivery includes the Piko 21779 electric locomotive in DC version, operating instructions and accessories for visual detailing. The locomotive is analog ex works and prepared for digital retrofitting.

Target group & intended use

The model is aimed at all model railroaders who would like to enrich their layout with a current DB AG vehicle. Thanks to the flexible digital retrofitting, it is equally suitable for beginners and advanced users and fits perfectly into modern regional train concepts of Era VI.
