The legendary class 139 electric locomotive returns to the model railway tracks with the Piko 21789 in its typical green color scheme of Era IV - this time in a factory-equipped DC version with sound. This locomotive was used for decades in passenger and freight service on the German Federal Railroad and is one of the best-known representatives of its time.

With this new 2026 model, PIKO offers a successful combination of classic DB design and modern digital technology. The built-in sound decoder with large loudspeaker provides realistic operating sounds and raises the model to a new level in terms of sound - a must for all fans of Era IV.

Digital equipment & sound functions

The model is equipped with a PluX22 sound decoder and is intended for 2-wire DC operation. The factory-fitted decoder provides authentic driving sounds such as starting and braking noises, traction motor buzzes and other digitally switchable sounds. It is conveniently controlled via your digital control center.

Lighting & additional functions

The equipment includes a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel using LEDs. The locomotive also has digitally switchable driver's cab lighting and digitally switchable engine room lighting - perfect for atmospheric displays at night or in the depot. All light functions can be individually controlled via the decoder.

Technical data & compatibility

With a length over buffers of 190 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive is suitable for all standard H0 track systems. The locomotive has two traction tires for reliable traction and is equipped with an NEM shaft with close coupler link - ideal for a secure connection with passenger or freight cars.
