Description

PIKO 21824 - H0 Class 442 "Talent 2" electric multiple unit S-Bahn Rostock, Era VI

With the Piko 21824, PIKO brings a new print version of the modern 5-part BR 442 "Talent 2" electric multiple unit in the attractive design of the Rostock S-Bahn for Era VI onto the H0 rails. The model is based on the successful prototype, which has been used throughout Germany since 2011 in regional services operated by DB AG and various private railroads. The multiple unit impresses with its modern design, high level of detailing and practical technology on a scale of 1:87.

The model is ideal for anyone who wants to depict current local transport on an H0 scale - especially in northern Germany. With a train length of over 1 meter, the multiple unit offers an impressive appearance on the layout and ensures modern train dynamics on main and branch lines.

Technology & digital preparation

The multiple unit is designed for direct current operation and has an NEM 652 digital interface, which makes it easy to install a decoder. The PIKO sound decoder #56614 is recommended for optional sound equipment. The drive is integrated to save space, so that the view through the window areas is maintained without impairing the excellent driving characteristics.

Lighting & special functions

The equipment includes a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel. Interior lighting is not provided at the factory, but can be retrofitted with some skill. A special coupling for multiple traction is included for particularly realistic operation - ideal for the use of several units on large layouts.

Model dimensions & compatibility

With an impressive length over buffers of 1002 mm, the multiple unit is a real highlight for modern H0 layouts. The minimum radius is 358 mm, which means that it can also be used on more compact track layouts. The cars are equipped with NEM shafts and close coupler link. Four traction tires in the drive system ensure reliable traction.

Realization true to the original

With this model, PIKO has attached great importance to a detailed reproduction of the end sections, bogie covers, body shapes and roof superstructures. The printing and paintwork in the design of the Rostock S-Bahn is razor-sharp and absolutely prototypical - perfect for scenes in today's DB AG commuter trains.

Scope of delivery

The scope of delivery includes the 5-car DB AG class 442 837 multiple unit in DC version, instructions and a special coupling for multiple traction. The model is analog ex works, but can be fully digitally retrofitted.

Target group & application

The multiple unit is aimed at model railroaders with a focus on modern German local transport. Its length, detailing and digital options make it ideal for larger layouts and regional lines - especially for fans of the northern German railroad landscape around Rostock.
