With the Piko Rh 500 of the NS in the AC sound version, PIKO is launching an authentic, historically significant diesel locomotive for Märklin-compatible layouts. The locomotive is based on the British shunting locomotives that came to the Netherlands after the Second World War - now as a new design with PIKO TrainSound® onboard and mfx® compatibility.
Equipped at the factory with a PluX22 sound decoder, the model delivers realistic operating sounds in digital AC operation. The locomotive automatically recognizes itself on mfx®-compatible command stations. Equipped with digitally switchable cab and cab lighting, prototypical headlights, detailed cab equipment, free-standing grab irons and ladders, this model is a visual and technical highlight for any Era III layout.
The NS took over a total of 45 locomotives of this class from 1946 - the first ten directly from the British military, a further 35 followed as new deliveries. They were used in stations such as Rotterdam Feijenoord, Utrecht and Zwolle. To this day, four machines are preserved in museums and are a reminder of the robust technology of the post-war era.
The model is designed for Märklin-compatible AC layouts with a minimum radius of 358 mm. Digital operation is via an NEM 658 PluX22 interface. Thanks to the NEM shaft with close coupler link, the locomotive can be integrated perfectly into historic freight trains or shunting compositions.
Ideal for Era III enthusiasts, fans of Dutch railroad history, Märklin railroaders and anyone looking for a compact, powerful-sounding switching locomotive with museum flair.
Get a highlight of post-war history on your layout with the Piko Rh 500 NS - new in 2025 with mfx®-compatible PIKO sound and a new design!
