PIKO 22004 - H0 Rh 500 NS diesel locomotive, Era IV

With the Piko 22004, PIKO brings a lovingly detailed replica of the Dutch diesel locomotive Rh 500 in the classic version of Era IV. The striking three-axle diesel locomotive of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS) was an integral part of everyday operations for decades - especially in shunting service at large stations such as Rotterdam Feijenoord, Utrecht or Zwolle.

The Rh 500 was in service between 1946 and 1989 - initially with the first ten locomotives from British stock (501-510), later supplemented by 35 NS-owned locomotives (511-545). In this era, the locomotive appeared in the unmistakable yellow-grey livery of the NS - the prototype for this precisely reproduced PIKO model.

Digitally prepared & sound-capable

The model is designed for DC operation and has a PluX22 interface (NEM 658) for easy retrofitting of a digital or sound decoder. We recommend the PIKO sound decoder #56642, which offers original sounds specially tuned to the vehicle.

Lighting & additional functions

A white/red light change depending on the direction of travel as well as digitally switchable driver's cab lighting enable realistic operating displays - by day and by night. The LED technology ensures uniform light and a long service life.

Attention to detail & equipment

The locomotive impresses with finely detailed spoked wheels, attached battery and sand boxes, air tanks, spring assemblies and filigree handle bars and lines. Further highlights: extra water level indicator, tank filler neck, sign holder and locomotive whistle. Suitable accessories are included for display in the showcase.

Technical data & compatibility

With a compact length over buffers of 104 mm, the locomotive is ideal for use in station areas or on industrial sidings. The minimum radius of 358 mm allows flexible operation on all standard H0 layouts.A traction tire ensures reliable traction. The locomotive is equipped with an NEM shaft and close coupler link.

Prototype & area of application

The NS Rh 500 was the workhorse of the shunting service in the Netherlands. With its characteristic shape and typical engine sound, it was an indispensable part of everyday operations. The model brings this classic in the condition of the 1970s and 1980s perfectly to the model railway layout - whether in shunting operations, on transfer runs or in front of light freight trains.

The scope of delivery includes the Piko 22004 Rh 500 NS diesel locomotive in DC version, operating instructions and accessories for the visual fine-tuning. The locomotive is analog ex works, but can be retrofitted digitally and with sound.
