PIKO 22006 - H0 Rh 500 NS diesel locomotive, Era IV, AC with sound

The Piko 22006 is the AC sound version of the popular Rh 500 diesel locomotive of the Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS). This Era IV model is factory-equipped with a PIKO XP sound decoder and brings the characteristic NS shunting locomotive realistically and sonorously to Märklin-compatible H0 layouts.

From 1946 to 1989, a total of 45 of these three-axle diesel locomotives shaped everyday operations in Dutch railroad stations such as Rotterdam Feijenoord, Zwolle or Utrecht. The first ten locomotives came from British stock after the Second World War, later followed by 35 more in classic olive green and from the 1970s in modern yellow-grey - as shown in this PIKO model.

Digital technology & sound equipment

The locomotive has a factory-fitted PluX22 sound decoder and is equipped with a powerful loudspeaker. The sound functions include true-to-original driving, braking and shunting noises as well as the distinctive horn of the Rh 500, making the locomotive immediately ready for digital AC operation.

Lighting & digital functions

A light change in white/red depending on the direction of travel and digitally switchable cab lighting provide a realistic operating atmosphere. The lighting is based on LED technology and can be easily controlled via your digital command station.

Detailed design

The model is visually impressive with fine spoked wheels, free-standing grab rails, as well as attached battery and sand boxes, air tanks and spring assemblies. Further details such as the water level indicator, tank filler neck, locomotive whistle and sign holder make the model an absolute eye-catcher. Suitable accessories are included for display in the showcase.

Dimensions & compatibility

The locomotive has a length over buffers of 104 mm and is perfect for station and industrial applications. The minimum radius is 358 mm, two traction tires provide the necessary traction. The locomotive is equipped with an NEM shaft and close coupler link and can therefore be used reliably.

Prototype & field of application

The Rh 500 was the shunting horse par excellence on the NS and was also used on light transfer trains. This model in Era IV design is ideal for depicting the Dutch railroad operations of the 1970s and 1980s.

The scope of delivery includes the Piko 22006 Rh 500 NS diesel locomotive with sound decoder, operating instructions and accessories for the visual display case presentation. The locomotive is fully digitized and prepared for AC operation.
