With the Piko 22008, PIKO brings the sound version of the popular Dutch diesel locomotive Rh 500 as an operational museum locomotive of the VSM (Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij) to the H0 tracks. The Era VI version of this historic shunting locomotive combines classic form with modern digital technology and impresses with its high level of detail and factory-integrated PIKO XP sound decoder.

The Rh 500 shaped NS railroad operations for over four decades. Today it lives on as a museum locomotive - maintained, operational and in use at events and nostalgia trips. The PIKO model picks up on this operational reality and faithfully brings the sound and presence of this robust three-axle diesel locomotive to model scale.

Digital technology with sound ex works

The locomotive is equipped with a PluX22 sound decoder ex works and offers a variety of original sounds typical of the vehicle: including starting and idling noises, shunting signals, fan, whistle and more. The integrated loudspeaker provides powerful sound - ready to use on your digital DC system.

Lighting & digital functions

The model has a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel and digitally switchable driver's cab lighting - ideal for night operation or scenes in the depot. All lighting functions are designed with long-life LED technology and can be precisely controlled digitally.

Fine detailing & design

The Rh 500 VSM impresses with its fine spoked wheels, free-standing handle bars, as well as attached battery and sand boxes, air tanks and spring assemblies. Further visual details: water level indicator, tank filler neck, whistle and sign holder. For collectors, accessories for showcase presentation are included.

Technology & compatibility

With a length over buffers of 104 mm, the locomotive is ideal for shunting operations or museum routes on compact layouts. The minimum radius is 358 mm, two traction tires ensure reliable traction. Coupling is via NEM shaft with close coupler link.
