Description

PIKO 22009 - H0 Rh 500 VSM diesel locomotive, Era VI, AC with sound

The Piko 22009 is the AC sound version of the well-known Dutch three-axle diesel locomotive Rh 500 - in its current version as a museum locomotive of the VSM (Veluwsche Stoomtrein Maatschappij). This model is a real gem for all Märklin drivers with a soft spot for historic vehicles because it combines classic technology with modern digital and sound equipment from the factory.

Between 1946 and 1989, the Rh 500 was a familiar sight at many stations in the Netherlands. Today it lives on thanks to railroad associations such as the VSM - well maintained and regularly in use on special trips. This model in Era VI captures the atmosphere of these museum operations in great detail - both visually and acoustically.

Factory sound & digital functions

Equipped with a PIKO XP sound decoder (PluX22), the model provides realistic soundscapes: from engine start and idling to brakes, driving noises and locomotive whistle. The large loudspeaker ensures powerful, clear sound - ready for immediate use on your AC digital system.

Lighting & digital control

The equipment includes a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel and digitally switchable driver's cab lighting - ideal for operation at night or in the depot. The lighting is based on energy-saving LED technology and can be controlled via any standard digital control center.

Depth of detail & equipment

The Rh 500 VSM impresses with its fine spoked wheels, attached battery boxes, sand boxes, air tanks, spring assemblies and free-standing cables and grab rails. The picture is rounded off by the water level indicator, tank filler neck, sign holder and whistle. Suitable accessories are included for presentation in the display case.

Technology & operation

The locomotive has a compact design with a length over buffers of 104 mm - ideal for shunting scenarios and branch lines. The minimum radius is 358 mm. With two traction tires and NEM shafts with close coupler link, the locomotive is technically well equipped for reliable operation on AC layouts.

Prototype & area of application

The Rh 500 lives on in the present as a VSM museum locomotive. The model is ideal for special train scenarios, nostalgia operation or as a highlight in the historic locomotive park. It brings the flair of the post-war period combined with today's museum romance directly to the layout.

Scope of delivery

The scope of delivery includes the Piko 22009 Rh 500 VSM diesel locomotive with sound, operating instructions and accessories for showcase presentation. The locomotive is fully digitized and immediately ready for operation in the Märklin-compatible AC system.
