With the Piko 22032, PIKO presents a further variant of the popular Italian diesel locomotive D.445 of the FS (Ferrovie dello Stato) in the scale 1:87. This version shows the second series in the striking Navetta design of Era IV - with a raised FS logo and numerous typical design elements of the 1970s and early 1980s. The model impresses with its finely executed design, technical innovation and high level of detailing - typical of the current PIKO generation.
The D.445 was used as a versatile diesel universal locomotive on non-electrified lines - especially for push-pull operation (Navetta). The locomotive of this series had specific equipment features for driving trailer operation and was frequently used in regional and express train service in central and southern Italy.
The locomotive is intended for direct current operation and has an NEM 658 PluX22 interface. This allows easy retrofitting of a digital decoder - also with a sound function. The locomotive is therefore ideally prepared for a later conversion with a sound decoder.
A white/red light change depending on the direction of travel is integrated as standard. The locomotive also has digitally switchable cab lighting - ideal for realistic driving at night or in depot scenarios. The lighting is based on long-life LED technology.
The highlights include free-moving fan wheels under finely etched fan grilles, a detailed interior, numerous attached parts and the classic body design of the second series. The original FS logo is raised and gives the locomotive a particularly high-quality look.
With a length over buffers of 162 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive can be used universally on main and branch lines. Two traction tires ensure high tractive power. The locomotive is equipped with NEM shafts with close coupler link - for reliable operation in a train formation.
The D.445 Navetta was used on numerous non-electrified FS lines - especially in the south of Italy. Thanks to the driving trailer, the locomotive could also be used in push-pull operation. This model is a typical Era IV vehicle and is perfect for regional and express train operation with a Mediterranean flair.
The scope of delivery includes the Piko 22032 D.445 2nd series Navetta FS diesel locomotive in DC version, operating instructions and accessories for the visual fine-tuning. The locomotive can be retrofitted ex works in analog and digital.
Ideal for model railroaders with a focus on Italian layouts or collectors of modern diesel classics. Thanks to its compact design, technical equipment and typical Italian design, the locomotive can be used in a variety of ways - from regional traffic to showcases.
