With the Piko 22036, PIKO presents an Italian model highlight: the D.445 of the FS (Ferrovie dello Stato) in the first construction series, here in the current XMPR color scheme of Era VI. The locomotive impresses with its elegant design, prototypical color scheme and numerous technical and visual details - perfect for modern model railway layouts with a focus on Italian diesel operation.
The D.445 was and is the FS workhorse on non-electrified lines - in passenger and freight service. In Era VI, part of the first series was repainted in the FS-XMPR design, which stands for a fresh, modern appearance in everyday operation. This model is a faithful representation of exactly this state.
The locomotive is designed for DC operation and is equipped with a PluX22 digital interface (NEM 658). This makes it easy to retrofit a digital or sound decoder. For a realistic sound experience, we recommend installing a PIKO sound decoder (available separately).
The equipment includes a light change in white/red depending on the direction of travel as well as digitally switchable cab lighting. The lighting functions are based on modern LED technology and can be specifically controlled using a suitable decoder.
The locomotive offers numerous highlights such as free-moving fan wheels under finely etched fan grilles, a detailed interior and intricate roof and side sections. The XMPR color scheme is sharply applied and corresponds exactly to the modern appearance of the FS in Era VI.
With a length over buffers of 162 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive is ideal for use on main and branch lines. Two traction tires ensure reliable running characteristics. The locomotive is equipped with NEM shafts and close coupler link and can therefore be reliably combined with all standard wagons.
D.445 locomotives are also represented in the FS fleet in Era VI. These locomotives are still used primarily in regional and occasionally freight traffic - often in combination with XMPR wagons. The model is therefore ideal for modern Italian operating scenarios.
The scope of delivery includes the Piko 22036 diesel locomotive D.445 1st series FS in XMPR design, instructions and accessories for detailing. The locomotive can be retrofitted ex works in analog and digital.
