Piko 22044 H0 Diesellok BR 296, Railion, Ep. VI Product Details

Description

PIKO 22044 - H0 Class 296 Railion diesel locomotive, Era VI

With the Piko 22044, PIKO presents a modern version of the proven diesel-hydraulic shunting locomotive BR 296, in the current design of the DB freight division Railion (today DB Cargo). The Era VI version reflects the locomotive in its current state of use - as a remote-controlled high-performance locomotive for single wagon traffic and precise shunting work at the large freight yards in Germany.

Originally based on the BR 295, the BR 296 was equipped with modern radio remote control and safety equipment from the end of the 1990s. The aim: more efficiency in shunting operations. With its traffic red design, high reliability and digital retrofitting capability, this locomotive fits perfectly into modern model railroad scenarios.

Digitally prepared & sound-capable

The locomotive is equipped with a NEM 658 PluX22 interface and is therefore ideally prepared for retrofitting a digital or sound decoder. The PIKO sound decoder #56655 is recommended for a realistic sound image - with all the typical operating noises of a modern shunting locomotive.

Lighting & digital functions

A white/red light change depending on the direction of travel is integrated as well as digitally switchable cab lighting and shunting lighting. The driver's desk is also illuminated, providing an atmospheric picture during night operation. The reproduction of the striking remote control lights is a visual highlight.

Detailing & equipment

The locomotive has the characteristic Voith fan wheel and numerous finely applied details. These include brake hoses and coupling hooks (included for self-assembly), clean engravings and a harmonious overall proportion that brings the prototype realistically to the layout.

Technical data & compatibility

With a length over buffers of 165 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive is ideal for use in shunting operations, factory sidings and on local routes. Two traction tires ensure high tractive power. The locomotive is equipped with NEM shafts and close coupler link.

Prototype & field of application

The class 296 is an integral part of daily single car traffic in Germany. It shunts in large junction stations, runs transfers to industrial customers and provides cars for long-distance trains. This model brings this modern day-to-day operation perfectly to model scale.

Scope of delivery

The scope of delivery includes the Piko 22044 BR 296 Railion diesel locomotive in DC version, instructions and accessories such as brake hoses and coupling hooks. The locomotive can be retrofitted with analog and digital ex works.

Target group & application

Ideal for modern model railroaders with a focus on Era VI, freight traffic and shunting operations. Thanks to its compactness, digital options and high degree of prototypical fidelity, the locomotive is suitable for any modern layout - from branch lines to large stations.
