Piko 22060 H0 Diesellok BR 215, DB, Ep. IV Product Details

Description

PIKO 22060 - H0 Diesel locomotive BR 215, DB, Era IV

With the Piko 22060, PIKO presents the BR 215 diesel locomotive in its original version of the German Federal Railroad for Era IV. The model represents one of the most versatile locomotives of the V-160 family - a classic of DB diesel operation with convincing depth of detail and technical preparation for digital operation.

Built between 1968 and 1971, the class 215 was designed for passenger and freight train service on main and branch lines. Its equipment with steam heating, reversing train control and auxiliary diesel for battery charging made it an all-purpose weapon on the non-electrified network - from the Eifel to Lake Constance. Many machines were later converted to BR 218 or 225 - a sign of their sustainable design.

Digitally prepared & sound-capable

The model has a digital interface in accordance with NEM 658 (PluX22) and is therefore prepared for retrofitting a digital or sound decoder. The PIKO sound decoder #56656 is perfectly matched to this locomotive and offers true-to-original sounds of the V16-cylinder diesel engine MB 16V 952.

Lighting & digital functions

The equipment includes a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel as well as digitally switchable cab lighting and an illuminated driver's desk. The LED technology ensures long-lasting and even illumination - ideal for realistic night and depot scenarios.

Detailing & design

The model exactly replicates the original version of the locomotive: extra tank and exhaust of the auxiliary diesel, reversing train socket, fine spring assemblies, attached handles and steps. Brake hoses and coupling hooks are included for individual customization - for the perfect prototype look on the layout or in the display case.

Technical data & compatibility

With a length over buffers of 188 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the model is ideal for use in regional train connections, as a long-distance train or in freight traffic. The locomotive has two traction tires for excellent traction and is equipped with an NEM shaft and close coupler link.

Prototype & area of use

The class 215 was a real all-rounder in DB diesel operation - used in front of all types of trains, from push-pull trains to heavy freight trains. The PIKO version brings this variety of use from the 1970s and early 1980s authentically to your H0 layout.

Scope of delivery

Included is the Piko 22060 BR 215 DB diesel locomotive in DC version, instructions and accessories such as brake hoses and coupling hooks. The locomotive is analog ex works and can be fully digitally retrofitted.

Target group & application

Ideal for fans of the V160 family, model railroaders with a focus on the classic German Federal Railroad era or collectors of German diesel technology. The locomotive fits perfectly into Era IV train sets and is a real highlight both technically and visually.
