The Piko 22063 is the AC sound version of the versatile Deutsche BundesbahnBR 215 diesel locomotive in its original version for Era IV. Built between 1968 and 1971, the class 215 was designed for all types of trains on non-electrified lines. Equipped with a steam heating system and auxiliary diesel for battery charging, it was ready for universal use right from the start. Whether in regional traffic in the Eifel or with express trains on Lake Constance - the locomotive was and is a symbol of reliability and technical foresight.

The factory-fitted PluX22 sound decoder offers a comprehensive sound spectrum - from realistic diesel engine running to signal horn, compressor and brake noises through to vehicle-specific functions. The powerful loudspeaker ensures clear and powerful reproduction on AC digital systems.

Lighting & digital functions

The locomotive has a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel and digitally switchable driver's cab lighting. The driver's desk is also illuminated - an atmospheric extra for depot and night operation scenarios on your AC system.

Detailing & model quality

The locomotive represents the original version with MB 16V 952 V16-cylinder diesel engine. Technically and visually true to the original: Extra tank and exhaust for the auxiliary diesel, reversing train socket, fine spring packs, handles and steps. For even more realism, brake hoses and coupling hooks are included for self-assembly.

Technology & compatibility

With a length over buffers of 188 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive can be used universally - from branch lines to main lines. Two traction tires guarantee reliable tractive power. Equipped with an NEM shaft and close coupler link, the locomotive is compatible with common coupler systems.

Prototype & area of use

In Era IV, the class 215 was at home on many non-electrified lines of the DB. It pulled regional trains, express trains, express trains and freight trains. This model allows the realistic realization of typical 1970s scenarios with a high degree of authenticity - now also in AC digital operation.
