PIKO 24556 - H0 Covered freight car Gbs "BahnExpress", ÖBB, Era IV

The Piko 24556 shows a typical covered freight car Gbs of the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) in the lettering for the BahnExpress freight traffic of Era IV. In the 1970s and 80s, the BahnExpress was an efficient solution for time-critical general cargo and parcels - especially on routes between metropolitan areas. The model combines an attractive appearance with a high degree of faithfulness to the prototype and fine detailing.

A particular highlight are the sliding doors that can actually be opened, which also make the wagon interesting for operational freight scenarios. Together with free-standing handle bars, a finely reproduced sprinkler system and razor-sharp engravings, the result is a model with high standards of detail and functionality.

True to the original & model quality

The paintwork in classic ÖBB red-brown with BahnExpress lettering is superbly realized. The Gbs type was used in express freight traffic as well as in transfer trains and is therefore an ideal match for a large number of Era IV train compositions in Austria and beyond.

Technology & operating characteristics

With a length over buffers of 160 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the car can be used on all H0 layouts. The NEM shafts with close coupler link ensure perfect coupling and driving safety. AC wheel sets (item no. 56061) can be used for AC users.
