With the Piko Halberstadt2nd class center entry coach, PIKO is expanding its range of historical Reichsbahn vehicles with another indispensable passenger coach from Era IV. This car was used for decades on the main and branch lines of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) and is now available as a detailed model for direct current systems.
The car is equipped with an individually designed interior, free-standing steps and handrails as well as very good rolling characteristics. The interior lighting can be retrofitted (matching set available separately), which also makes the car suitable for realistic night or half-shadow operation scenarios.
In the 1970s and 1980s, the Halberstadt mid-entry coaches formed the backbone of local transport in the GDR. As robust, universally applicable passenger coaches, they were often used with class 110, 112 or 118 locomotives - a familiar sight on the tracks of the Deutsche Reichsbahn.
With a clearance of 303 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the car is ideally suited for all common DC systems. The NEM shaft coupler with close coupler link ensures reliable operation in combination with other cars or matching locomotives.
A must for DR fans, collectors of East German railroad history and anyone who wants to recreate a realistic passenger train from the GDR era - whether for reversible trains or classic branch line services.
