The Piko Halberstadt2nd class middle-entry coach is another representative of the tried and tested DR passenger coach fleet for local and express train services in the 1970s and 80s. In Era IV design, this car offers everything necessary for a realistic train composition in 1:87 scale - including excellent running characteristics and detailed design.
Equipped with free-standing steps, handrails and an individually designed interior, the wagon impresses with its high degree of closeness to the original. The interior lighting can be retrofitted (matching set optionally available), which also makes it interesting for night operation and illuminated platform scenes.
The Halberstadt coaches were the standard vehicle for regional services of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) in the GDR. They were built in large numbers and characterized the image on branch lines and main lines alike - often pulled by BR 110, BR 112 or diesel traction such as the BR 118.
The model is designed for DC systems with a minimum radius of 358 mm. It can be easily combined with other cars of the same class or matching DR locomotives via the NEM shaft with close coupler link - ideal for authentic Era IV train sets.
A must for model railroaders with a DR focus, fans of GDR railroad history and collectors of East German vehicle types. Also ideal for use in reversible trains and branch line scenarios.
