The Piko set of 3 ČSD Y cars in the "Istropolitan/Dukla" version brings the international express train service of Era IV to your H0 layout. These coaches shaped the image of long-distance transportation in Czechoslovakia and beyond - now as a finely detailed model set with prototypical equipment and excellent running characteristics.

Technology & design - classic and functional

The three carriages in this set offer a realistic view into the passenger compartment thanks to the large windows and structured interior design. The interior lighting can be retrofitted (matching set available separately). All of the cars have NEM shafts with close coupler linkages and are therefore optimally designed for narrow track radii and long train operation.

Prototype: ČSD Y cars - long-distance service in socialist style

The Y coaches were a further development of the UIC standard coaches and were used by Československé státní dráhy (ČSD) in numerous international express trains such as the "Istropolitan" or "Dukla". They traveled to Vienna, Berlin, Budapest and Bucharest, among other places - a typical picture of the railroad world of the 1970s and 1980s in the Eastern Bloc.

Model operation & compatibility

The cars are designed for use on DC layouts and are suitable for a minimum radius of 358 mm. They can also be converted for AC systems using AC exchange wheel sets (item no. 56060).
