The Piko set of 2 FS tank cars brings classic freight cars for liquid transportation in Italy in the 1970s to your model railway layout. The two-axle cars are typical for the domestic and cross-border transportation of mineral oil products and chemicals. Equipped with different imprints, they offer authentic variety in the train design.
Both tank wagons have free-standing ladders and platforms as well as brakeman's platforms. The paintwork is razor-sharp and the lettering is prototypical. Thanks to the robust design and NEM shaft with close coupler link, the cars have excellent running characteristics - even in layout operation with tight radii from 358 mm.
In Era IV, these two-axle tank cars were a common sight in FS freight traffic. They were used in single wagon traffic or short tank wagon trains - often pulled by diesel locomotives such as the D.345 or electric locomotives of the E.646 series. Different operator logos and advertising lettering were part of the typical appearance of these wagons.
Designed for direct current operation, the cars can also be equipped with AC interchangeable wheel sets (item no. 56060). They fit perfectly into international train formations and cut an excellent figure both in marshalling yards and in passing scenes.
