With the BR 221 in the classic blue/beige color scheme of the German Federal Railroad, PIKO brings a real highlight of the Federal Railroad era to the garden railroad (G scale). The locomotive is based on the well-known V 200.1 and impresses with its powerful drive technology, detailed design and versatile applications on the layout.

Thanks to opening doors and windows in the driver's cab, the model also offers a high degree of realism for fans of the finest details. The locomotive is ideal for operation in front of heavy freight trains or as an express train locomotive in main line service in the 1970s and 1980s.

Modernized technology for analog & digital operation

The factory-set white/red light change is analog, depending on the direction of travel. The locomotive is prepared for retrofitting with a PIKO PSD XP decoder, with which additional light functions can be switched digitally. The installation of a sound decoder (item no. 36546) is also planned - for even more realism on the layout.

Powerhouse for the garden railway

The powerful drive ensures reliable traction even under difficult conditions. With a length over buffers of 696 mm and a minimum radius of 600 mm, the locomotive is suitable for almost all garden railroad layouts.
