Realized in the design of Era IV, the locomotive stands for the typical electric railroad operation of the 1970s and 1980s in Germany - ideal for model railroaders with a focus on realistic and functional replicas of DB regular operation.

The class 116 is a further development of the well-known E 16 locomotive series and impresses in the model with its clean detailing, which takes into account all the typical DB special features of this series.
