With the Piko 40532 BR 216 diesel locomotive in classic blue and beige livery, PIKO brings a piece of German Federal Railroad history to N scale. The locomotive embodied the modern diesel operation of the 1960s to 1980s and was used as a single-engine large diesel locomotive in medium-heavy service on many main and branch lines of the German Federal Railroad.

The model of the BR 216 impresses with its precise design with clear engravings and a fine reproduction of typical components of Era IV. The blue and beige color scheme is true to the original and ensures a striking appearance on the layout. The locomotive is ideal for use in front of express and passenger trains as well as in freight traffic - just as its prototype was also versatile thanks to its slow speed and 1,400 kW MTU motors.

The model has a Next18 interface (NEM 662), which enables simple digital retrofitting. The LED light change in white/red depending on the direction of travel ensures realistic lighting effects by day and night. Two traction tires ensure good tractive force and smooth running characteristics - even with longer trains.

To further refine the model, accessories for the buffer beam are included to give the model an even more authentic appearance. With a running length of 100 mm, the locomotive is ideal for use on both compact and large N-gauge layouts - even with tight radii from 192 mm.
