Piko 40667 N-IC-Großraumwagen Apmz 121, 1. Klasse, DB, Ep.IV Product Details

Description

Piko N 1st class IC large-capacity coach Apmz 121 DB IV

1st class IC large-capacity car Apmz 121 in DB product colors in Era IV. The pioneering concept of the IC '79 was introduced by the German Federal Railroad at the beginning of the 1979 summer timetable with the well-known slogan "Every hour, every class". This new approach was necessary because the purely first-class Intercity trains could hardly be operated economically at that time due to the continuing decline in passenger numbers. With the introduction of the second carriage class, the frequency was also increased to an hourly rhythm. The intended reduction in travel times was achieved by upgrading many routes and increasing maximum speeds. To save even more time, these accelerated trains no longer carried luggage and mail coaches and were divided into 1st class, dining car and 2nd class blocks for quick transfers at the hub stations. Following the success of the concept, the IC network was extended from four to five lines in 1985. To this day, the IC remains an important backbone of long-distance rail travel.
