The PIKO 47286 brings an authentic piece of GDR railroad history to the TT model railroad layout with the four-axle BR 118 diesel locomotive in the so-called "economy paint scheme". As the largest diesel locomotive built in the GDR, the BR 118 is a true role model in terms of power and technology - discreetly but expressively staged in this version.
The locomotive presents itself in the typical appearance of the DR of the 1970s and 1980s: The economy paint scheme stands for a functional design with reduced effort while maintaining the same recognizability. PIKO has realized the locomotive with finely engraved frame and bogie parts as well as a prototypical body design. With a running length of 162 mm, it is ideal for long trains in Era IV operation.
Equipped with a modern PluX16 interface (NEM 658), the BR 118 can be easily digitized. A sound retrofit with the matching PIKO sound module (#46552) is also possible without any problems. The light changes in white/red depending on the direction of travel using modern LEDs. Two traction tires ensure powerful tractive power.
Thanks to the NEM shaft and close coupler link, the locomotive is equipped with TT close couplers and enables realistic coupling distances. This means it can be ideally integrated into existing train formations and is impressive in solo operation as well as in front of push-pull trains or freight trains.
Get the PIKO 47286 TT DR diesel locomotive BR 118 in the iconic economy livery now - an indispensable model for all fans of Era IV and East German railroad technology. The perfect blend of prototype fidelity, functionality and retrofittability!
