The Piko 47327 BR 131 diesel locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) is a precisely manufactured model for Era IV. The locomotive impresses with its faithful reproduction with different window sizes, handrails and a detailed roof design. A heavy die-cast zinc frame ensures stability and a high tractive force that can easily handle even long trains. With a powerful motor and numerous fine details, the model is an enrichment for every TT layout.
The class 131 belongs to the family of heavy diesel locomotives that were developed for the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the 1970s. These locomotives were mainly used for heavy freight traffic, but also for passenger traffic on main and branch lines. Their robust construction and striking design made the BR 131 a familiar sight on the East German rail network during Era IV (1965-1990).
In Era IV, the Deutsche Reichsbahn focused on the expansion and standardization of the vehicle fleet. Locomotives such as the BR 131 were increasingly used to transport large loads and on international services. This era was characterized by the introduction of uniform lettering and new vehicle types that met the increasing demands of freight and passenger traffic.
With its Expert series, Piko offers detailed models for demanding model railroaders. The BR 131 impresses with its precise reproduction of the bogies, handrails and fans on the roof. The heavy die-cast zinc frame not only ensures stability, but also a high tractive force that can easily handle long freight and passenger trains.
The model offers numerous technical features that ensure a realistic and powerful representation:
The model is reproduced down to the smallest detail. The different window sizes on the front and side walls, the handrails in front of the driver's cabs and the fine engravings on the bogies ensure a high degree of faithfulness to the original. The roof design with different fans is also prototypical and gives the model a realistic appearance.
A powerful motor with two precisely balanced flywheels ensures a quiet and smooth ride. Drive is provided on several axles, with two traction tires ensuring high tractive power. The locomotive offers excellent running characteristics and is designed for a minimum radius of 310 mm, making it compatible with all standard TT track systems.
The model is equipped with a PluX16 digital interface in accordance with NEM 658, which allows easy retrofitting with a digital decoder. A sound retrofit with the matching PIKO sound decoder (#46194) is also prepared. This allows the locomotive to be operated with realistic sound effects.
The Piko BR 131 diesel locomotive offers numerous advantages and versatile applications on your model railroad layout:
The wheels and axles should be cleaned regularly to ensure optimum operation and a long service life for the model. Dust and dirt on the add-on parts can be carefully removed with a soft brush. The motor and moving parts should be lubricated occasionally to ensure smooth running.
The Piko 47327 BR 131 diesel locomotive from the Deutsche Reichsbahn is a detailed and powerful model for the TT scale. With its precise workmanship, powerful drive and digital expansion options, this locomotive offers a realistic and varied playing experience. An indispensable model for fans of Era IV and sophisticated freight and passenger trains!
