As part of the modern PKP Cargo fleet, this locomotive is used for freight traffic on international routes and is a highlight on any TT gauge layout.
The class 193 Vectron is an ultra-modern electric locomotive developed by Siemens for cross-border freight and passenger traffic. PKP Cargo, the largest freight transportation company in Poland, uses these locomotives on international routes because of their high performance and flexibility. With a top speed of up to 160 km/h and its ability to run on different power systems, the Vectron is a true all-rounder.
The Piko 47384 model recreates this modern locomotive in the striking livery of PKP Cargo. The four pantographs and the fan openings on the sides ensure a realistic reproduction of the original and make the locomotive an indispensable part of modern freight train formations.
The model of the Piko 47384 BR 193 is manufactured in the nominal scale TT (1:120) and offers a variety of technical features that make it a highlight on any TT layout. The locomotive has a length over buffers (LüP) of 167 mm and is equipped with a PluX22 interface (NEM 658), which makes it possible to retrofit a sound decoder (e.g. PIKO sound decoder #46545). The sound decoder can provide the model with realistic locomotive sounds, which increases the fun and authenticity.
The model has a light change depending on the direction of travel with white headlights and red tail lights, which ensures a realistic representation, especially when running at night. The minimum radius for use is 310 mm, which makes the locomotive ideal for TT gauge layouts. Two axles of the locomotive are equipped with traction tires, which provide additional traction and excellent pulling power.
The model is equipped with close-coupling kinematics and an NEM shaft, which enables prototypical car spacing and flexible application options in the train set. The locomotive is designed for direct current (DC) operation and can be easily integrated into digital model railroad layouts thanks to the PluX22 interface.
The four pantographs on the roof of the locomotive are not only visually appealing, but also a striking detail that gives the Vectron models of PKP Cargo their typical appearance. These pantographs are functionally reproduced and round off the realistic appearance of the model.
The Piko 47384 BR 193 Vectron electric locomotive from PKP Cargo is an excellent choice for model railroaders who want to use a modern electric locomotive on their TT layout. With its detailed replica, the option of sound retrofitting and the excellent driving characteristics, this locomotive is ideal for use in modern freight train sets. The robust design and the many technical features make this locomotive an absolute highlight on any TT gauge layout.
Whether as part of a long freight train or in combination with other modern locomotives - the Piko BR 193 impresses with its versatility, high-quality workmanship and attention to detail. A worthwhile investment for anyone who wants to recreate modern trains in Era VI.
