Technical features & special functions

Historical background

The real class 243 was built in 1984 in the LEW Hennigsdorf and was a backbone of the local transportation of the German Reichsbahn. With an output of 3.7 MW and a top speed of 120 km/h, it was considered robust and versatile. After reunification, it was continued by Deutsche Bahn as class 143. Locomotive 243 019-7, which now belongs to WFL, is a tribute to the historic S-Bahn design of Leipzig - a striking piece of eastern railroad history in new splendor.
