Piko 50693 H0-steam locomotive BR 03, DRG, Ep.II Product Details

Description

About the prototype: The class 03 was built 298 times between 1930 and 1938 as an express locomotive. Its advantage over the class 01, on which the new locomotive was based, was above all the lower wheelset weight, which made it possible to run on lines that only allowed a maximum wheelset weight of 18 tons. From road number 163, the locomotives were fitted with bogies with running wheels with a diameter of 1000mm instead of 850mm. After the Second World War, 86 locomotives went to the DR, 145-150 to the DB and 36-40 to the PKP. The locomotives were taken out of service by all these railroad companies by the end of the 1970s. As of 2020, 9 examples are still preserved, of which 1 locomotive is operational, while 6 have been refurbished for museums.

About the model: With this model of the DRG class 03 from Era II, Piko offers a detailed and technically high-quality replica of the original locomotive. The appearance of the model is characterized by a large number of filigree components such as boiler pipes, handle bars and running gear components, as well as very precise printing that is true to the original. A modern motor with flywheel mass ensures excellent running characteristics and high tractive power. A Plux22 interface is available for easy digitalization of the model.
