The PIKO 50695 H0 steam locomotive BR 03 is a technically and visually impressive replica of the famous express locomotive of the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft (DRG) from Era II. With the finest details, a powerful motor and a factory-installed sound decoder with fits mfx certification, this model offers a unique experience for model railroaders.
A total of 298 examples of the class 03 were built between 1930 and 1938. As an express train locomotive, it was particularly impressive due to its lower wheelset weight compared to the class 01, which meant that it could also run on lines with a maximum axle load limit of 18 tons. From road number 163 onwards, the locomotives were fitted with bogies with 1000 mm running wheels instead of the original 850 mm.

The class 03 was in service until the end of the 1970s. Today, 9 units are still in service, one of which is operational and six of which have been refurbished for museum use.
