This replica of the steam locomotive from Era III is an absolute must for collectors and model railroad fans who value historical authenticity and technical perfection.

The prototype of the Piko BR 91.3 steam locomotive

The T 9.3, later classified as the BR 91.3, was produced in the Königsberg Union Foundry from 1901 and was one of the most frequently built steam locomotives in Germany. Originally developed for the Prussian State Railway, over 2,000 units were produced. Its top speed of 65 km/h and versatility made it equally suitable for passenger and freight trains as well as shunting services.

The Deutsche Reichsbahn (DR) and later the Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) took over the T 9.3 as the 91.3 series. During the Second World War, many locomotives were sent to Poland and Austria. After 1945, they were increasingly taken out of service in Germany; the class 91.3 was in service with the DB until 1964 and with the DR until 1971. This model is a tribute to this important era in German railroad history.

Piko - A traditional manufacturer with innovative technology

The Piko company from Sonneberg, Thuringia, has established itself as one of the leading manufacturers of model railroads. The Expert series, to which the BR 91.3 steam locomotive belongs, stands for maximum precision and attention to detail. With modern technologies such as integrated sound decoders and steam generators, Piko takes model train construction to a new level.

Era III - The golden era of steam locomotives

Era III (1945-1970) was characterized by the reconstruction of the railroad infrastructure and the transition from steam to diesel and electric locomotives. During this period, machines such as the BR 91.3 symbolized the progress and reliability that were essential for passenger and freight transport. With its compact design and performance, it was indispensable on branch lines and in shunting yards.

Design and technical sophistication

The Piko class 91.3 steam locomotive impresses with numerous authentic details, including a rounded driver's cab roof, filigree spoked wheels made of die-cast zinc and free-standing components such as whistles, bells and lamps. The coal-powered engine is equipped with a coal box with flaps, which emphasizes its historical authenticity. A digital control system makes it possible to precisely simulate the lighting in the driver's cab and the flickering of the firebox.

Why the Piko 50732 BR 91.3 is a must for every layout

With integrated sound equipment and steam generator, this model offers a realistic driving experience that is complemented by numerous true-to-original details. The BR 91.3 is a model that impresses both technically and visually at the highest level and enriches every model railway layout.
