With the PIKO 50802 H0, the manufacturer brings a technically and visually excellently equipped model of the Polish steam locomotive Tr12 to the model railroad layout - including factory-installed sound decoder and steam generator. This historic freight locomotive embodies the transition period from wet to hot steam propulsion and was used in heavy line service in southern Poland from 1945. To this day, the Tr12 is regarded as a symbol of efficiency, ease of maintenance and solid engineering in steam locomotive construction.

The prototype - proven technology for heavy loads

The Tr12 was a superheated steam version of the Austrian 170 series, adapted to the requirements of the PKP. It had larger superheaters, extended chimneys and Westinghouse brakes. Only 39 machines returned to PKP service after the Second World War and were in use until 1969 - mainly in the mountainous regions of southern Poland.
