With the PIKO 50902 H0 steam locomotive BR 03, the manufacturer brings an impressive model of the Deutsche Reichsbahn to the AC tracks. The reconstructed locomotive of Era IV, equipped with sound and factory steam function, embodies the technical modernizations that were carried out on the BR 03 from 1969 onwards. A special highlight: the prototypical reproduction of the new type 39E boiler - known from the 22 and 41 series - makes this model a real eye-catcher for AC railroaders.
This AC locomotive is factory-equipped with a PluX22 sound decoder and offers numerous digital functions. These include switchable cab and running gear lighting as well as realistic firebox flickering. The locomotive measures 275 mm over buffers, runs safely through radii from 422 mm and has two traction tires for stable running characteristics. The direction of travel-dependent light change in white/red underlines the high degree of realism.
The filigree running gear with fine spokes, plastic counterweights and numerous attached boiler lines are evidence of the highest model-making quality. The airy ingot frame provides a clear view of the fine mechanics, while the characteristic mixing preheater system on the smoke chamber and the reconstructed driver's cab with new roof have been reproduced with historical accuracy. The replica of the new type 39E boiler is another authentic highlight.
Thanks to the integrated sound decoder, model railroaders can experience realistic steam locomotive sounds - from the steam whistle to braking and driving noises. The factory-installed steam function also ensures visually impressive operation. All digital features can be conveniently controlled via a control center - including support for mfx® decoder systems, which makes use on modern digital systems particularly convenient.
The DR BR 03 locomotives modernized from 1969 onwards were fitted with the fully welded new type 39E boiler, among other things. This increased the performance of the locomotives and extended their service life. These steam locomotives shaped long-distance transportation in the GDR for over a decade. The PIKO 50902 brings this technical history to H0 format and is aimed at all those who want to enrich their layout with authentic DR technology.
The PIKO 50902 BR 03 impresses with its state-of-the-art technology, historic prototype and impressive appearance - now available in the model railway store. Upgrade your AC layout with this powerful, sonorous highlight and experience steam locomotive operation like never before!
