The success story of the E 44 series began in 1930 with the E 44 001 pre-series locomotive built by Siemens-Schuckertwerke. It was followed in 1932 by the first series of electric locomotives without running axles with single-axle drive in Germany. The PIKO E 44 is also a success story. The miniatures of both the pre-series and series locomotives are brilliant due to their exact scale realization. Equally sharp and precise engravings on the body provide enormous three-dimensional depth and underline the excellent overall impression. This is also continued in the running gear area with numerous specially attached parts on the striking bogies. Identical in model quality, the differences between the prototype locomotives have nevertheless been implemented in the model with the greatest possible depth of detail. The model also leaves little to be desired technically: The drive is both proven and robust, and a PluX22 interface makes it child's play to retrofit a digital decoder. In this constellation, it is possible to switch the engine room and driver's cab lighting, for example. The versions equipped at the factory with a PSD XP sound decoder with vehicle sound bring the typical "growl" of the Tatzlager drive to the model railroad.
