Description

The need for heavy freight locomotives prompted the DB to rebuild a total of 43 locomotives of the E 94 series between 1954 and 1956. This also included the E 94 178, which was listed as 194 178 after the conversion of the DB class scheme in 1968. During the main inspection on January 8, 1976, the locomotive received a paint job in the colors ocean blue and ivory that had been in effect at DB since 1974. However, the division of the colors with a bright contrasting area at the front was not convincing due to the susceptibility to damage in this area. As the only locomotive of its class with this livery, it also bore the nickname "Blue Mauritius".PIKO has transferred this special locomotive to a scale of 1:87, taking into account all the special features of the prototype. The three-wire AC version has an mfx-capable digital decoder ex works and is prepared for retrofitting sound."
