Description

The need for heavy freight locomotives prompted the DB to build a total of 43 new E 94 locomotives between 1954 and 1956. These included the E 94 178, which was designated 194 178 following the change to the DB class scheme in 1968. During the main inspection on January 8, 1976, the locomotive was painted in the colors ocean blue and ivory that were valid for the DB from 1974. However, the division of the colors with a bright contrasting area at the front was not convincing, as this area was in great need of protection. As the only locomotive of its class with this color scheme, it also bore the nickname "Blue Mauritius" PIKO has transferred this special locomotive to a scale of 1:87, taking into account all the special features of the prototype. The sound versions have a PIKO sound decoder that provides an outstanding sound experience ex works with the largest possible loudspeaker.
