The Piko H0 Class 194 electric locomotive from the German Federal Railroad brings one of Germany's most legendary electric locomotives to your layout. Known as the "German Crocodile", it was originally developed as the E 94 for heavy freight trains in southern Germany. A total of 146 of these striking locomotives were built between 1940 and 1945 - and they remained the backbone of electric freight traffic until the 1980s. The Era IV version shows the model in the typical Bundesbahn look with green paintwork.
The model has two metal pantographs, finely detailed cab and engine room equipment as well as an articulated locomotive body based on the original prototype. The digital switching of the cab and engine room lighting can be retrofitted with a PluX22 decoder. The direction of travel-dependent light change in white/red ensures a realistic operating image.
Further developed from the Reichsbahn E 93 series, the E 94 established itself as the standard locomotive for heavy freight in mountainous terrain. Its CoCo axle arrangement, the striking front and its enormous tractive power made it an icon. PIKO is now implementing this design variant with the highest standards of detailing and function.
Thanks to the NEM 658 PluX22 interface, the model is easy to digitize. A PIKO sound decoder (#56601) can be retrofitted. The optional light functions can also be switched digitally to make the locomotive experience even more realistic.
For model railroaders with a focus on heavy freight traffic of the 1970s, for Era IV fans and fans of classic Bundesbahn electric locomotives. Also ideal as a draft horse for long block trains and layouts with an alpine character.
