With the Piko H0 electric locomotive 3E/1 in the PMP-PW version, PIKO brings a typical Polish electric locomotive of Era IV to your layout. These locomotives, manufactured by Pafawag in Wroclaw from 1958, were the first series-produced freight electric locomotives for the Polish rail network. Known as the ET21, they shaped the image of heavy freight transport in Poland for decades - here as the 2025 model with new details and technical highlights.
The model has two metal scissor pantographs, engraved fan grilles with a three-dimensional effect and precisely pierced bogie covers. The digitally switchable driver's cab, engine room and running gear lighting can be individually controlled when retrofitting a decoder (PluX22). The driver's desk lighting provides additional authenticity. The white/red light change depending on the direction of travel is included as standard.
The 3E/1 or ET21 was built in 658 units between 1958 and 1971 and achieved a performance that allowed the transport of up to 2400 tons at 70 km/h on the level. The machines were approved for 100 km/h and dominated electrified freight transport in Poland for decades - a technical heavyweight with cult status.
The locomotive has an NEM 658 PluX22 interface for easy digitization. A PIKO sound decoder (#56589) can be retrofitted. The light functions and the complete interior lighting can be controlled digitally using a decoder.
For fans of Polish railroads, friends of Eastern European locomotive technology and model railroaders with a focus on heavy freight traffic in Era IV. Also ideal for themed layouts in Central Eastern Europe or railroad depots with an international character.
