With the Piko 51832 BR E52 electric locomotive, PIKO presents an impressive DC version of a historic classic locomotive from the German Federal Railroad in Era III. This version with black running gear impressively reflects the striking old design of the former EP 5 - equipped with the latest digital and sound technology for realistic model railroad operation.
Designed in 1922 for the Bavarian Group Administration, the EP 5 - later known as the E52 - was intended for heavy passenger train service on electrified lines. The PIKO model faithfully reproduces this historic locomotive with its long frame, angular box body and chamfered corners. The black bogie design stands for the typical appearance of Era III.
The factory-fitted PluX22 sound decoder in combination with a powerful loudspeaker provides an authentic sound image - from the switch-on hum to the driving noise. The effect is enhanced by digitally switchable driver's cab and engine room lighting as well as a light change in white/red depending on the direction of travel.
With a clearance of 198 mm, a minimum radius of 358 mm and four traction tires, the model is ideally suited for heavy train loads on main lines of the 1950s and 60s. The solid bogie construction with heavy housing ensures high tractive power and stable running characteristics.
Whether in express train service or as a solo locomotive in the BW - the BR E52 was a formative component of the early DB era. This model is the perfect addition for historically correct train formations with conversion cars, express train cars or compartment cars of Era III.
Get yourself a classic of electric locomotive history with the Piko 51832 - digitally fully equipped, visually authentic and with a convincing sound. Now available for your DC system!
