One of the most impressive Soviet diesel locomotives returns to the model tracks with the Piko H0 diesel locomotive ST44 from PKP-Cargo. The locomotive known as the M62 was developed in the Luhansk locomotive factory for heavy freight traffic and was also delivered in large numbers to Poland, where it was included in the PKP fleet as the ST44. Especially in Era V, it was indispensable for freight traffic - a true classic with striking sound and performance characteristics.
The model impresses with its finely detailed bogies, engine room and driver's cab equipment as well as digitally switchable driver's cab and engine room lighting (can be retrofitted). The powerful appearance of the locomotive is also reflected in the model scale - robust, long and characteristic. The white/red light change depending on the direction of travel is fitted as standard.
Based on the Soviet TE10 series, the M62 was used in many Eastern European countries from 1966. In Poland, it has remained active to this day as the ST44 - particularly in heavy goods traffic. The locomotive was nicknamed the "Taiga drum" due to its unmistakable exhaust noise - an acoustic trademark.
The model is prepared for digital operation with the NEM 658 PluX22 interface. A PIKO sound decoder (#56538) can easily be retrofitted. The light functions and the soundscape provide a realistic driving experience.
For friends of Eastern European railroads, fans of the PKP and model railroaders with a focus on heavy freight operation in Era V. Also ideal for operating dioramas, border lines and international freight trains.
