With the Piko H0 ST44 sound diesel locomotive from PKP-Cargo, you can bring one of the best-known freight locomotives in Eastern Europe to your model railroad layout - now with a factory-installed sound decoder. The ST44 class is based on the Soviet M62, a heavy six-axle diesel-electric locomotive that became known as the "Taiga Drum" in numerous Eastern European countries, including the German State Railroad. In Poland, these locomotives are still in service today with PKP-Cargo.

Detailed and sonorous

The model has digitally switchable cab and engine room lighting (with PluX22 decoder), realistic cab and engine room equipment as well as detailed bogies. The PIKO TrainSound® sound decoder is installed at the factory and provides authentic engine and operating sounds. The white/red light change depending on the direction of travel is included as standard and supports a realistic appearance.

ST44 - the Polish face of the M62

Between 1966 and 1975, the PKP purchased hundreds of M62 locomotives, which were classified as ST44 in Poland. They shaped the image of heavy freight trains on main lines throughout Poland - loud, powerful and highly visible. This model now brings the charm and power of the ST44 to digitized layouts.
