With the Piko 52121 BR 219 diesel locomotive in the DB AG version, PIKO is bringing a powerful model of a striking locomotive from Era V to your H0 DC layout. The former DR class 119, later known as the class 219, was known in particular for its characteristic porthole windows and the top light - which is why it was also known as the "submarine" among railroad fans.
The locomotive impresses with its prototypical paintwork and precise printing in the DB AG design of the 1990s. The detailed reproduction of the superstructure including the striking headlights at the top, the typical side windows and the finely designed bogies make the model an authentic representative of the transition from DR to DB AG.
A powerful motor with precisely balanced flywheels ensures smooth running characteristics and high tractive power. With a clearance of 224 mm and a minimum radius of 358 mm, the model is suitable for versatile use in passenger and freight traffic.
The integrated NEM 652 interface makes it easy to install a digital decoder. For an acoustic upgrade, the model is also prepared for retrofitting a PIKO sound decoder (#56557) with the largest possible loudspeaker. The direction of travel-dependent light change in white/red ensures a prototypical appearance in operation.
Whether in regional traffic, in heavy freight service or as a museum vehicle - the BR 219 enriches every Era V layout with a piece of German railroad history with a high recognition value.
Get the legendary "U-Boot" locomotive in DB-AG design with the Piko 52121 - ready for digitization and sound retrofitting!
