With the Piko H0 SM31 PKP sound diesel locomotive, you can bring one of the most powerful diesel locomotives of the Polish state railroad to your layout. The locomotive based on the SM42 was developed from 1973 and was specially designed for heavy shunting and transfer traffic. Between 1976 and 1981, 167 machines were delivered to the PKP. This Co'Co' machine weighing 70 tons was powerful, but too heavy for many industrial tracks - which is why many ultimately remained in use in the PKP shunting service.

The model is impressive with its free-standing railings and ladders, finely perforated fan grilles and a rotating roof fan. The digitally switchable driver's cab and running gear lighting together with the PIKO TrainSound® sound decoder ensure an all-round realistic operational representation. The white/red light change depending on the direction of travel completes the picture.

The SM31 series locomotive was designed for rough use in shunting yards and in transfer traffic. Its powerful motorization and robust design made it a popular, albeit specialized machine - it is still active on Polish tracks today.
