With the Piko 52383 M44 diesel locomotive from MÁV, you get a powerful and detailed Era III AC model on your H0 layout. The M44 class was the backbone of Hungarian shunting traffic and was also exported to many other countries due to its reliability, versatility and robust construction. This model authentically reproduces the typical features of the locomotive - supplemented by a factory-installed sound decoder for a realistic driving experience.

Proven diesel technology with an international career

The M44 was used in Hungary from the end of the 1950s as a versatile shunting locomotive with the powerful Ganz-Jendrassik V16 engine. Thanks to its high tractive power and simple design, it was also used by ČSD, PKP and in other countries in addition to MÁV - and was particularly popular with industrial railroads and works operations. Its characteristic silhouette with driver's cab at the end of the vehicle makes it unmistakable to this day.

Model with fine details and harmonious design

The PIKO model shows the M44 in typical MAV design and is equipped with numerous attached components: sand boxes, sand pipes, brake shoes, MAV-style exhaust and an illuminated driver's desk. Brake hoses and coupling hooks are included for customization. The harmonious color scheme and precise implementation ensure a high recognition value on the layout.

Factory-fitted sound and digital control

A factory-fitted PSD XP sound decoder provides a realistic sound for the diesel locomotive and offers numerous additional functions. The digitally switchable cab lighting (decoder required) and the direction-dependent light change in white/red complete the functional equipment - perfect for authentic operation on your AC system.

Technology for smooth model railroad operation

With a length over buffers of 130 mm, two traction tires and a recommended minimum radius of 358 mm, the locomotive is ideal for use in shunting and transfer services. Thanks to the NEM shaft and close coupler link, the M44 can be easily integrated into existing vehicle fleets.
