Modellschmiede PIKO presents the new 2022 exclusive set "BR 232 + 3 log wood transport cars" for the open day. The set includes the freight train "Holz aus Südthüringen", a class 232 WFL diesel locomotive, and three log wood transport cars from Era VI. The model features two traction tires, an "NEM Schacht + close coupler" coupler, and a direction-dependent light change in white/red and is prepared for the installation of a PIKO sound decoder.
When the first class 132 (later class 232) diesel locomotives were put into service in 1974 for universal passenger and freight service, the German State Railroad set a useful life of 20 years - and currently, almost 50 years later, there are still some class 232 locomotives in service. Today, the locomotives of this series are mainly found in freight service. One example of this is the 232 333-5 of Wedler Franz Logistik GmbH & Co KG. The medium-sized, private railroad company is active in the areas of freight transport and railroad construction logistics, among others. One of the areas of operation of the 232 333-5 is Sonneberg, where the locomotive can be observed from time to time transporting logs. This scene has been faithfully recreated for the model railroad world with the PIKO TOFT set 2022.
