Today, locomotives of this class are mainly found in freight train service. One example of this is the 232 333-5 of Wedler Franz Logistik GmbH & Co. The medium-sized, private rail transport company is active in the areas of freight transport and railroad construction logistics, among others. One of the regions where the 232 333-5 is used is Sonneberg, where the locomotive can be seen transporting logs from time to time.
