Set of 2 additional cars for the DB AG Ep. VI PIKO ICE 4.
In 2011, Deutsche Bahn AG commissioned Siemens Mobility to build up to 300 new high-speed trains for use in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The new BR 412/812 multiple units, which are being jointly developed by Siemens and Bombardier, will be powered by several cars, so-called Powercars. The train configuration provides for various modular units ranging from five-car to 14-car trains. This concept allows the train to be easily adapted to the individual specifications of the transport companies in terms of the desired acceleration, speed and number of seats. To date, DB has ordered85 twelve-car and 45 seven-car multiple units as the basic configuration, consisting of non-powered end and control cars, powered seating cars and on-board bistro as well as non-powered seating, dining and service cars. The seven-car multiple unit train has three powered carriages and offers 456 seats over a length of 200 meters. A twelve-car multiple-unit train has six powered carriages and 830 seats over a length of 346 meters. The maximum speed is 250 km/h. The exterior design was based on the existing ICE fleet and further developed. The first trains have been in regular service on the Hamburg-Würzburg, Stuttgart-Munich and Hamburg-Berlin-Munich lines since December 2017.
