New for 2023: After 40 years of IC connections in Germany, the wagon fleet had become quite mixed. With the "IC mod." project, DB AG aimed to address this issue and began several prototype conversions in 2009. From 2012 onwards, series conversions were carried out in the repair works of Kassel, Neumünster, and Nuremberg, where the wagons received a new interior to ICE standards, new doors, air conditioning, and wiring. Unlike the original, PIKO opted for a complete new construction for the modernized IC wagons. The vehicles are precisely scaled to 1:87 and feature fine engravings and flush windows. The interior is highly detailed and matches the original in quality. The bogies are also detailed, with features such as separately applied spring packages, magnetic brakes, and brake disc replicas on the axles. Even the undercarriage is worth a look, with machinery, battery compartments, and all supply lines meticulously recreated. The second-class wagon is of course prepared for the easy retrofitting of interior lighting.
