The Piko 58860 type AB4yg conversion car is an impressive model from the successful conversion car program of the German Federal Railroad. These four-axle vehicles were developed in the mid-1950s to meet the growing demands of passenger transportation - with a focus on robustness, capacity and modernity.
As part of the B4yg family, the AB4yg combined 1st and 2nd class coaches in one vehicle, allowing flexible use in local and express train services. It was based on reused underframes and bogies, on which new, completely welded steel superstructures were mounted. With central entrances, double doors without a central pillar and door seals used for the first time, these coaches offered noticeably greater comfort. The maximum permissible speed of 120 km/h represented a significant increase in performance.
The PIKO model in Era IV design impresses with its realistic details: Minden-Deutz bogies, finely engraved steps and handles, attached brake cylinders, battery boxes and toilet pipes. The car is also prepared for retrofitting interior lighting and a tail light to provide an even more realistic representation.
Thanks to the NEM shaft with close coupler link, the AB4yg conversion car can be seamlessly integrated into existing train sets. Whether in classic express trains or regional traffic - this car perfectly complements your Era IV compositions of the German Federal Railroad.
Round off your fleet of conversion cars - with the Piko 58860 AB4yg you get a versatile prototype with a historical claim on your model railroad!
