The Piko 58862 BD4yg conversion car brings the typical passenger train service of the German Federal Railroad in the 1970s and 1980s realistically to your H0 layout. This four-axle car type with luggage compartment is part of the large conversion car program that was implemented in the 1950s to renew the car fleet.

Practical, robust, tried and tested - the B4yg/BD4yg series

To improve comfort on a limited budget, DB relied on the conversion of old wagon underframes with new, stable steel superstructures. The BD4yg coaches had a separate luggage compartment, while the other coach compartments were designed to meet the needs of local transport. The central entrances with double doors made it easier to change passengers, while the new door seals significantly improved weather protection. With a top speed of 120 km/h, these cars were fully suitable for modern Era IV traffic.

Realized prototypically and in detail in H0

The PIKO model of the BD4yg impresses with its fine engravings, attached battery boxes, brake cylinders, toilet pipes as well as handles and steps in a filigree design. Interior lighting and a tail light can be retrofitted for more operating fun. The car is equipped with close coupling kinematics and an NEM shaft, which makes it easy to integrate into existing train formations.
